Help Stop Domestic Violence

Today I was thinking… it’s so incredibly important to make conscious decisions in our everyday lives to help protect our planet for future generations. And if you’re here reading this, it’s likely that you agree with that statement too! But it’s also super important to not just support environmental issues, but social issues that affect the lives of people around us. Because really – what’s the point of saving the Earth if we can’t do our part to better the lives of those living on it?

And I’m sure you know this. But I feel like we can get so wrapped up in issues that we are so (rightfully) passionate about, that we sometimes have to remind ourselves to be aware and support other important causes as well.

About a year ago, a dear friend of mind lost her niece to a tragic incident of domestic violence. It was such a devastating loss for her and her family and it came so unexpectedly. That’s why her family has started a foundation in her niece’s name to honor her memory and raise awareness about domestic violence. For instance, did you know that “in the United States, a woman is more likely to be assaulted, injured, raped or killed by a male partner than by any other type of assault?” (source: acadv.org) Shocking. And it doesn’t have to be this way.

Which is why we here at thepeaceleaf.com are honored to be a part of the upcoming Denise Fransua 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk to STOP Domestic Violence. If you’re here in Denver, it’s not too late to register! Here’s the link: http://denisedvfund.org/. If you can’t attend, donations are greatly appreciated!

I encourage you to spread the word to your family and friends. Because with knowledge, awareness, and taking action we can make a difference!
